A Seed Bomb Recipe

Guerilla Gardener Seed Bomb Recipe

Seed Bombs Away!

Ingredients:

5 parts* Dry Red Clay**
3 parts* compost soil
2 parts* seeds (it’s best to use native wildflowers but use whatever you have)
1-2 parts* water (added a dribble at a time)
Large bowl

*Parts refer to any form of measurement size you want, cup, bowl, mug, etc.
**Dry red clay : Usually clay comes pre-mixed, which you don’t want. You want the powdered kind known as Red Art Clay.

Directions:

Step 1: Combine compost and the seeds into a large bowl and mix well.

Step 2: Add clay and mix until all ingredients (except the water) are combined.

Step 3: Slowly add 1-2 cups water a dribble at a time and mix until thick (similar consistently to cookie dough).

Step 4: Roll the mixture into 1 inch balls. Set the balls on a newspaper covered tray and allow to dry for 2-3 days or until completely hard. You more militant guerrilla gardeners can also make large fist sized seed grenades if needed, but be aware they will take longer to dry.

Step 5: While waiting for them to dry, scope out your target ( a lane, a ditch, your neighbor’s yard, etc.) and then…

Bombs away!
