A FREE SEED MAILBOX, RANDOM CARIBOO SEED DROPS and WHAT”S IN THE FREE SEED BAG!
It’s a fact that once you learn how to save seeds you will end up with more seeds than you could use in a lifetime. I use the extra seeds that I harvest to attend seed swaps or trade with my gardening accomplices in order to acquire the seeds that I don’t already have. To get rid of some of the duplicate seeds I started dropping off flower and vegetable seed packets on my neighbors doorsteps when no one was looking.
However I still had sooo many seeds … we are talking several large totes and cardboard boxes full of seeds.
Around my house the seeds are always in various stages of drying and they were apparently taking up too much room in my husband’s garage. So to clear some space (and possibly save my marriage) I started the FREE SEED MAILBOX in Sardis. My plan was to entice the people in my community with the gift of free seeds and encourage them to embrace gardening.
The pandemic happened and it was an instant hit!
Then 2 additional things happened…
We moved to the Cariboo and The Canadian Garden Council (CGC) proclaimed 2022 as the “Year of the Garden” and they were looking for Garden Ambassadors to help encourage people to start “Living the Garden Life”.
Those of you who have watched my Tedx Gardening Manifesto or personally know me will know that I consider this to be my life’s work, so I signed up and was accepted as a Garden Ambassador for Year of the Garden! I have many things planned but my first task as a garden ambassador is to expand my seed giving adventures to not only involve the FREE SEED MAILBOX, but also to include RANDOM CARIBOO SEED DROPS and WHAT”S IN THE FREE SEED BAG!
HOW IT WORKS:
Randomly throughout the gardening season various seed drops will be placed not only at the FREE SEED MAILBOX in Sardis, BC but RANDOM CARIBOO SEED DROPS will also be made around the Cariboo as well (see below for locations). The seed selections for these drops will change throughout the season and some varieties will be limited.
Seed packets are on a first come, first serve basis, while supplies last, and there are no holds. Also please be courteous and leave some for others.
After reading and agreeing to the FREE SEED DISCLAIMER feel free to take a free seed package for yourself and a friend or a neighbor, however, please try to be a good person and don’t be greedy. There will be many seed drops throughout the season so try not to have a scarcity mindset.
The seed drop updates will be announced as they happen on the Guerrilla Garden Adventures Facebook Page so that you can follow along and hopefully get the scoop on the newest seed choices and seed drop locations.
Note-if you are ever in the Sardis (Fraser Valley) or the Forest Grove (Cariboo) area or just happen to be driving by it never hurts to stop and take a peek!

I spend most of my time in the garden however if you happen to have a rare sighting of me out in public and I happen to be carrying the Guerrilla Garden Adventures tote bag pictured above please feel free to approach me, introduce yourself and ask WHAT”S IN THE FREE SEED BAG!
The FREE SEED BAG is always located in this tote bag and you will receive a free packet of seeds just for asking.
NOTE – If I don’t have my Guerrilla Garden Adventures tote bag with me, please do not approach me…..I will not have any seeds on me and I will most likely be on a non-gardening mission and must not be distracted. My total focus will be on getting my non-gardening errands done so that I can get back to my gardening adventures ASAP!

RANDOM CARIBOO SEED DROPS mostly happen in Forest Grove, BC….because that is where I live and I love aiding and abetting people in my community to “Live the Garden Life”. Seed Drops are made weekly to the Share Shed at the transfer station in Forest Grove, BC. but occasionally additional seed packets might be pinned to the bulletin boards outside the Forest Grove General Store or Post Office as well. RANDOM CARIBOO SEED DROPS have also been made in Cache Creek, 100 mile and Williams Lake. The best way to know when and where a Cariboo seed drop is happening is to follow the Guerrilla Garden Adventures Facebook Page .

This is the O.G. Guerrilla Garden Adventures FREE SEED MAILBOX!
Although I no longer live in Sardis due to the number of emails that I received about the popularity of the FREE SEED MAILBOX I am going to continue doing seed drops whenever I come to town or can convince someone ( A SEED ANGEL) to do a seed drop off for me.
The seed drops will not be as often but I will make sure that a large assortment of seed packets are deposited in the FREE SEED MAILBOX and as always when a seed drop is done I will post it on the Guerrilla Garden Adventures Facebook Page.
How to access the FREE SEED MAILBOX in Sardis:
The FREE SEED MAILBOX is located kitty corner from the Shell gas station by the Willow Lane sign.
If you are driving the ONLY place to park is at the Shell gas station on the corner of Vedder road and South Sumas in Sardis.
From the Shell gas station parking lot use the crosswalk to cross Vedder road.
Then use the crosswalk to cross South Sumas.
Just to the left of the Willow Lane sign in front of the playground and you will see a brass mailbox attached to the chain-link fence.
(The playground is private so please don’t enter).
Feel free to take a package for yourself and a friend or a neighbor, however, please be courteous and leave some for others.
I also ask that you make sure the mail box lid is securely closed as to keep the seeds from getting damaged or blown away in a windstorm and make sure to use and obey all cross walks and crossing signals. Be safe and embrace Living the Garden Life!
