The Lemon Tree Hack

Lemon Tree Hack

My latest adventure is what I like to call “The Lemon Tree Hack”!
In case you didn’t know today January 10th is National Houseplant Appreciation Day.

Houseplants have become a really hot trend during the pandemic especially among younger people.
This is very exciting because prior to 2020 gardening related hobbies were on a steady decline according to the BC Council of Garden Clubs.
At their fall AGM in 2019 it was reported that garden centres, garden clubs and seed companies were all struggling to get by. The future of gardening was looking pretty dismal to say the least. However since Covid there has been an increased interest in gardening and houseplants, the likes of which has not been seen since the 70’s.
With all the lock downs, self isolation and quarantining people were looking for ways to entertain themselves. Houseplants proved to be an enjoyable endeavour not only to decorate your home but to entertain yourself with as well.
Unfortunately, supply and demand as well as a little thing I like to call Covid Pricing has driven up the cost of houseplants along with everything else. Certain non-gardening family members were also rumoured to be mumbling something about how the houseplant budget should not exceed the grocery budget….or some such thing.
Not only that but SOME people think that you are only supposed to be shopping for essential items and they don’t consider houseplants essential.
Well I beg to differ.
It’s a fact – plants make people happy and people’s mental health is just as important as their physical health during this pandemic.
So I have come up with a socially distanced, budget friendly way to add to your houseplant collection and possibly keep your marriage and family relationships intact.
At least as far as plants are concerned.

My Facebook Live  “The Lemon Tree Hack” demonstrates how to up your houseplant game for 2021 using the grocery budget and best of all no one will be the wiser….if you know what I mean.

Happy Gardening!
